In May, showy seed heads shaped like spiked balls, or maces, top Gray's Sedge, and as they dry, they continue to provide interest throughout the gardening season. This eastern North American, clump-forming Carex has medium-green, grassy leaves that form a soft mound 2-3' tall. Plant in a moist location, in shade or part sun. Good for naturalizing in wet areas.
